Due to the limitation of capacity and bandwidth, PCI fails to perform real-time 3D graphics. Thus a new platform bus specification, AGP(Accelerated Graphics Port), is defined to enable high performance graphics capabilities, especially 3D, on PCs at mainstream price points. Therefore, AGP is: ĦEHigh-performance, component level interconnect ĦETargeted at 3D graphical display applications ĦEProviding high bandwidth and low latency connection to system memory ĦEPoint-to-point interconnect ĦEAbout 4 times than original PCI bandwidth
